Learning in Public: Feedback from the Community

Making community feedback visible: reflections and next steps from Civic Tech DC’s Learning in Public Log.

The best communities are built by the people who represent them. In many spaces, you give feedback but never see what happens next. Was it used? Was it valued? Did it actually change anything?

In helping run Civic Tech DC, it has become important to build a community that is also reflective of itself, one where you can see how feedback leads to new processes. To experiment with this, I created a Learning in Public Log, where I document feedback I’ve received from community members, my reflections, and any next steps we’ve taken or are considering.

This is a short experiment for the next couple of months. I also hope to bring some of these lessons into the Civic Tech Playbook so other community organizers can learn from them, too.
