About Us

Founded in 2012 as Code for DC, Civic Tech DC is a non-partisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit community of volunteers using open-source technology to support civic engagement, strengthen democracy, and empower public-interest initiatives.

We became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2022. We use open-source technology to support civic engagement, strengthen democracy, and empower public-interest initiatives in the DMV and beyond.

We welcome designers, product managers, project managers, communicators, policy thinkers, researchers, and community leaders, as well as technologists, from all backgrounds, disciplines, and levels of experience. Our work supports local and national nonprofits, think tanks, local governments, and grassroots organizers across the region.
